“Being a knowledgeable and creative person is essential in my work as a trial attorney. I have to build quickly a full understanding of a client’s business, professional and personal situation in order to advocate effectively on their behalf.” Phil also has an active products liability defense practice, and has successfully defended national companies as well as local retailers. Phil and his partner Peter Del Bianco currently serve as counsel to the Maine Chiefs of Police and regularly provide advice and representation to law enforcement officials in civil litigation. Phil is committed to active involvement in both professional and community organizations and has spoken at numerous seminars. In 1994, Phil was elected to the American Board of Trial Advocates, an organization that is committed to improving the ethical and practice standards of trial attorneys and the trial process, and is currently the President of the Maine Chapter of ABOTA. He also serves on the Maine Supreme Judicial Court Committee on Professional Responsibility by appointment of the Court. Cognizant of the increasingly few opportunities for new attorneys to develop trial experience, Phil was instrumental in forming an ad hoc mentoring committee for young lawyers and is the co-chair. Phil and his wife, Susan Peck, also an attorney, have three daughters. They spend much of their free time in the Maine outdoors, skiing, bicycling, hiking, and gardening. |
